A thorough discussion should be made on the prevailing situation in the State and a PIL be filed in the Supreme Court seeking it to give direction on whether to keep the State unified or bifurcate it and decide on status of Hyderabad, former Union Secretary and former member of Parliament K.S.R. Murthy suggested.
Participating in a round-table organised by the non-political JAC, Mr. Murthy discussed some important issues before making this suggestion to find a final and correct solution.
Mr. Murthy, former MP and AICC member, said the Antony committee would not be able to solve the problem since it was a Congress party committee and opined that an expert committee should have been formed when an announcement was made on Telangana on December 9, 2009 on sharing of water and power and to finalise other issues. He was also of the opinion that no award would be respected because the political parties were interested in voters and power only. Mr. Murthy regretted that the capital was shifted from Kurnool to Hyderabad and “now we were being told to get lost”.
He took exception to the language being used by the Telangana MPs, MLAs, and other leaders.
The retired IAS officer advised the organisations not to bring in caste into the agitation because it would dilute the issue. Minister for Investments Ganta Srinivasa Rao said it was for the first time that people were leading an agitation and political parties were following them. People from all walks of life were participating and more organisations were joining, he said.
Former ANU Vice-Chancellor and convenor of non-political JAC V. Balamohan Das, presided.He wanted the Chief Minister to do justice to Seemandhra candidates who could not attend EAMCET counselling.
Boycott duties
Judicial Department employees boycotted their duties and participated in the Samaikyandhra agitation. Employees and their families visited the advocates’ dharna camp and went to the Collectorate in a procession. They formed a human chain at the Jagadamba junction. State union leader P. Ravi kumar, city unit president K. Lakshman Rao, secretary Panchadrala Kishroe, Class IV employees union president Y.S.K. Gouthamudu, secretary P. Kiran and others participated.
