In view of the deep depression forming in the Bay of Bengal and the Meteorology Department forecast that the system would move north along the coast and form into a cyclonic storm, the district administration has opened a control room at the Collectorate.

District Collector N. Yuvaraj held a teleconference with Tahsildars and directed them to be on high alert in view of the cyclone. He directed the revenue officials to be available at the respective mandal headquarters and monitor the situation till the storm crossed the coast. He called upon the people living in low lying areas of the district to remain on high alert.

A 24-hour control room, with the toll free no. 1800-425-00001, has been opened at the Collectorate and those who encounter any problems due to the incessant heavy rain can immediately intimate the control room of the same.

Orders have been issued to the Tahsildars of coastal areas to monitor the situation from time to time.

Superintendent of Police (Visakhapatnam rural) Rahul Dev Sharma asked Police Stations of coastal areas to be on the alert.
