Non-distribution of voter slips in various colonies in the city is causing apprehensions among voters and it can lead to low voter turnout in the city as it happened in Hyderabad, says Vizag Development Council convener O. Naresh Kumar.

In a letter to the District Collector, he said that voters of many areas in Hyderabad had faced a peculiar problem of not knowing their serial number though all of them had their voter cards.

They had difficulty in accessing the printed books and then finding their serial number in them.

Many voters, especially women, went home disappointed without voting. Some good Samaritans took upon the task of finding the serial number, polling booth no. and other details and sent SMS to the voters who sought help. Unfortunately, many voters left their mobile phones at home as the Election Commission had advised them against carrying their cell phones to the polling booth.

He appealed to the Collector to ensure that voter slips were distributed in all areas of the city.

He also sought provision of a few chairs and stationing of medical vans at all polling booths for the benefit of senior citizens.

He also sought that the voter slips be distributed by Tuesday evening.
