BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vijaya Rahatkar has said the BJP is committed to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill.
“Right now we don’t have the majority to do it. Once we get it the Bill will be passed,” she told reporters here. She condemned the reported rape of a nun in West Bengal as shameful.
She urged the Union Home Minister to introduce an App for women’s safety all over the country, besides registering cases in any police station without adhering to purview and also accept online complaints. Ms. Rahatkar, who addressed the State executive meeting here on Sunday, said the BJP membership drive was going on well and already crossed seven crore against the target of 10 crore set by party president Amit Shah.
A target of enrolling two crore members through the Mahila Morcha was set.
Membership drive
A membership drive was carried out in colonies of poorer sections last week and would be taken up again for three days from Monday. Morcha state president S. Malathi Rani said the response to the membership drive was good because of the initiative taken by the Modi government for the welfare of girl-child and programmes like Swacch Bharat.
