Worshipping the mother, father, guru, and god in that order is Indian tradition. The nurturing role of the mother during infancy, the corrective role the father plays in shaping the future of the child, the vital role the guru dons in showing the right path, and the role the divine plays as an undercurrent in every stage was aptly explained by Sai Surendranath, faculty member in Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher learning, Puttaparthi. He was speaking at the concluding day of the 92nd birth anniversary celebrations of Sai Baba at Sai Prema Sadan here on Thursday.

In a speech interlaced with his own experiences in the immediate presence of Sai Baba as a student initially and as a faculty member later, he said, quoting the Baba, that “what one enjoys in life is god's gift and what one does to society is the return gift one gives to god. And that gift is nothing but service with pure, unsullied love.” The 'jhula utsav', in which many devotees participated with enthusiasm, the bhajans rendered by samithi singers, and the fireworks brought curtains down to five days of service and spiritual activities coinciding with the festivities.

S. Vijay Kumar of Vijay Nirman Company was later presented the Sai Visishta Seva award on the occasion.
