Book on Indo-China war released

‘Himalayan’, a novel in Tamil authored by Dhivakar, was released at a function at Tamil Kalai Mandram on Saturday.

The book, based on the 1962 Indo-China war, was released by a retired professor of Tamil of EVR College, Trichy, Tirumaran. The first copy was received by Kumaresan of Coromandel.

The book delves into details of the war, reason for the war and reason for the sudden decision of the Chinese authorities announcing unconditional ceasefire on November19, 1962 and ordering their army back to where it was before the war.

The political situation in India, China and Tibet from 1959 to 1962 was discussed in the novel. Besides, the book discusses the importance of Himalayas where the war broke out.
