Aiming to make Anakapalle parliamentary constituency a model one, its MP M. Srinivasa Rao is nurturing three villages under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and plans to take all other villages in his constituency to the same level.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao outlined his plans for his constituency, and what he had achieved so far.
The three gram panchayats he had adopted under the SAGY — Doddupalem in Chodavaram Assembly segment, Tallapalem in Anakapalle Assembly segment, and Iruvada in Yelamanchili Assembly segment — were set to get Wi-Fi to help youth access Internet.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao promised to pay for provision and maintenance of the service from his MPLADS.
The aim is to make all the villages open defecation-free and all eligible get housing in the constituency.
Adoption of the village is not just about providing infrastructure and amenities but also sensitising villagers on social issues like health and hygiene, and cleanliness, he said.
“As my constituency is predominantly rural, I am pursuing with the Centre for setting up a skill development centre in Anakapalle. A Kendriya Vidyalaya has been sanctioned and a Central team would by assessing the suitability of the 10-acre land at Sundarayyapet in Anakapalle,” Mr. Srinivas said.
As a result of vigorous follow-up, the Railway Minister included a survey of the Tuni-Kottavalasa railway line that would pass through Narsipatnam and Chodavaram, he said. The work would begin on it in another one year.
“A proposal has been made to Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to convert the State Highway between Chintapalle-Narsipatnam-Chodavaram-Sabbavaram and Anandapuram in a National Highway. On completion, both the projects will help industrialisation of the region and, consequently, create more jobs there,” he said.
The Detailed Project Report for the Anakapalle-Anandapuram Highway is under preparation and foundation would be laid once it is submitted.
The MP listed the details of his performance in the recent sessions of the Lok Sabha.
