It was a huge gathering on a fine Sunday evening where people from Mithila gathered to celebrate ‘Vidyapati Samaroh’ with fun and frolic.
As part of the annual celebrations, committee members of Mithila Sanskritik Parishad (MSP) paid rich tributes to renowned poet and scholar Vidyapati. It was a day of celebrations for ‘Mithilavasis’ who have come from different parts of Bihar and have settled in the City of Destiny.
It is an event that can never be missed, said one of the community members Jitender Misra. “These special occasions string us together, taking a break from our routine life. It is an opportunity to share our views with each other, making us feel at home,” he said. The event saw more than 1,500 ‘Mithilavasis’ of all age groups coming together, greeting and savouring community dinner at TNR Function Hall. Most of them are employed in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Naval Dockyard, Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels and as contractors in the city. The annual events of MSP include blood donation camp and cultural activities for specially challenged children and other service-oriented programmes.
Adding zest to the occasion, renowned singer Rambabu Jha awed the audience with his soothing melodies along with Madhav Ray and Preethi Misra.
Addressing the gathering former MLA T. Gurumurthy Reddy said that he was happy to be part of the cultural programme. Appreciating the unity among the community members who have come all the way from their hometown, he said he would extend support in securing a piece of land for the association by negotiating with the government officials.
Coast Guard Commandant Prajapati Thakur, former employee of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, president of MSP Baikunth Jha, community members S.K. Jha, Rajesh Kumar Jha and others also participated.
