RINL CMD P. Madhusudan speaking at the conference for regional and branch managers in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

Buoyed by the excellent overall performance, particularly on the commercial front during 2017-18, RINL-VSP organised an all India regional managers and branch managers’ conference at Ukkunagaram to draw a roadmap and to meet the target of increased volumes during 2018-19.

Inaugurating the conference, RINL CMD Madhusudan observed that 2018-19 was a challenging year for RINL to achieve a target of six million tonne capacity and a sales volume of 5.5 million tonne during the year.

He mentioned that focussed marketing efforts, continuous improvements and production of more value added steel would largely contribute to achieving the target and net sales realisation (NSR).

He stated that logistics would play a major role in this regard and called for balancing the logistics like newly introduced coastal shipping, rail and road transport for smooth and consistent delivery of products to various destinations in a time-bound manner.

Mr. Madhusudan said there was a need to reduce the rolling of semis to enhance NSR. He said that initiatives like branding of RINL products should be further strengthened to enhance the corporate image of the company.

Remarkable growth

Director (Commercial) P. Raychaudhury said that RINL marketing policies gave rich dividends and all the branches shown remarkable growth during the year and called upon them to develop standard practices and also adapt to changes for better performance.

Rural market

He said steel consumption in the rural market had a lot of scope to improve and highlighted the need to consolidate on the presence of RINL. He congratulated the marketing branches for achieving sales turnover of around ₹16,625 crore, including export sales of ₹1,725 crore, an impressive growth of 31% and 65% respectively during 2017-18 over corresponding period last year.
