6 X-ray units sealed

The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has conducted regulatory inspections and sealed six X-ray units and issued warning to five other units in the city on Tuesday.

In all, 14 X-ray centres and hospitals, including the X-Ray unit at King George Hospital (KGH), to ensure compliance with the AERB rules.

Unauthorised use of Medical Diagnostic X-ray equipment without license of AERB is an offence under the Atomic Energy (Radiation Protection) Rules, 2004. Of the 14 units inspected, six X-ray equipment (including 1 CT scan, 1 CBCT – dental, 1 mammography unit and 3 Fixed X-ray unit) were ‘Sealed’ and ‘warning of seal’ was issued to five units.
