The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Endowments Department organised a shobha yatra, procession, as a prelude to Mana Gudi Mahotsavam on August 2, here on Monday.
The procession that began at Ratham centre on Canal Road here passed through lanes and bylanes in One Town. The Shobha yatra stopped for a while near Venkateswara Swamy temple on Brahmana veedhi in One Town.
The temple priests performed pooja to idols on Shobha yatra chariot. Vijayawada (West) MLA Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, Vijayawada (Central) MLA Malladi Vishnu and others were present.
Special rituals etc. would be organised at all temples in the district as part of the Mana Gudi, a State-wide programme.
The TTD officials said that the Mana Gudi was being organised with a view that the Sravana Pournima should bestow the people with all prosperity and happiness. Arrangements were being made to organise the Mana Gudi in as many as 265 temples that are under the Endowments Department purview, and 250 other temples. The TTD would present robes to presiding deities in all selected temples. Srivari Raksha, which is stated to ward off all evils, kankanams, Ammavari kumkum, Kalyana akshata, books would be distributed to the devotees.
The temples would be decked up with flowers and strings of mango leaves. Special abhishekams, gou poja, and mass kumkum archana would be performed.
