Leaders of the Telugu Desam Party complained against certain senior district officers to Union Minister of State Y.S. Chowdary at a meeting here on Monday.

The Union Minister met all the senior leaders of the district including current and former MPs, MLAs and Ministers. Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas who belongs to the BJP also attended the meeting but left the venue midway. Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad and former Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao were also present.

The party leaders complained to the Union Minister that independent decisions taken by the officials were causing a lot of problems for elected representatives and party leaders. They suggested that the officials be replaced before the party got a bad name. Mr. Chowdary, responding to the complaints, sought to know the reasons behind the delay in getting their act together six months after the party came to power.

Meeting twice a month

He urged Minister for Major Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao to conduct a meeting with party leaders at least twice in a month to discuss issues pertaining to welfare and development, threadbare.

The Union Minister urged the elected representatives to make the best use of Central government schemes and participate in the Swacch Bharat programmes.

To be transferred

In a brief chat with the media after the meeting, Mr. Chowdary said the leaders had told him that officers were not listening to them. Some of the officials who had sought transfer from this State to Telangana were indifferent to the requirements of the public and the elected representatives.

He said the State government too was keen on transferring such officials. The transfers would be affected in a week or ten days.

As the Minister in-charge of the district it was his responsibility to ensure better coordination between the party leaders and between the leaders and officers too, he said.
