Like others of their ilk, they wanted to do their bit in creating awareness among people on the importance of voting. The fact that they are still a novice in music did not deter them from making the best of their talent. They went ahead and came up with a 2.5 minute song titled Yuva Bharatham , which encourages youngsters and others to vote.
Despite pressure of exams, this group of six students set up Chordzzz Band and in just 10 days released their debut song. The group includes one student each from Pinnamaneni Siddhartha College and Nalanda Degree College while the remaining four are from Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology.
Drawn from different colleges, the students learn music from a local music teacher N. Devraj. “That’s precisely what helped us in coordinating. In fact, Mr. Devraj and I composed the tunes, while four others penned the lyrics,” says S. John Titus, a final year student of Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology.
“The objective of the song is to make people, especially youngsters, aware of their voting right and the impact it can make. Many people cast their vote after accepting money from politicians and end up electing a wrong leader. We want them to do away with this practice,” says B. Yeshwant, a student of Pinnamaneni Siddhartha College.
The group claims to have performed a show on the song in their college and is planning to organise shows at other colleges in the city in the coming days. “It is a good experience for us. We will upload the song on social networking sites also,” says V.V.S. Kiran Aradhya, another student.
