Hundreds of people from different sections of society ‘took to the streets’ here for a cause on Sunday. It was a ‘Walk for Vote’ organised by the district administration from PWD Grounds to Benz Circle.

A large number of people took part in the event enthusiastically in response to the call given by Collector M. Raghunandana Rao to spread the message about the importance of right to vote in a democracy.

Mr. Raghunandana Rao, Police Commissioner B. Srinivasulu, Joint Collector J. Murali, Municipal Commissioner C. Hari Kiran and other dignitaries joined the walk. On the occasion, Mr. Raghunandana Rao said people of many countries do not have the right to vote.

Those enjoying that right should not waste it,as by doing so they would be making a mockery of participatory democracy. Every person aged above 18 should, therefore, cast his or her vote for the sake of strengthening democracy, Mr. Raghunandana Rao added.
