The Southern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (SPDCL) has revised the power-cut schedule due to acute shortage of the electricity supply. The SPDCL has increased the power cut to five hours from existing three hours. The load relief timings in the city would be from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The second spell of load relief would be from 1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
The power-cut in the district headquarters is from 6 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. and 11a.m. to 1.30 p.m; the load relief in all municipalities except Machilipatnam would be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and again from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Likewise, the power-cut in mandal headquarters would be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 12 noon to 3 p.m.
SPDCL Superintending Engineer B. Mohana Krishna said all the industries would be required to implement the power holidays for three-days in a week or 12 days a month. The industry would also have to adhere to the evening peak load restrictions from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30p.m., throughout the month. They have to avail power supply only for lighting purposes not exceeding 20 per cent of the Contracted Maximum Demand during peak load hours.
The poultry units, rice mills, and cold storage units would have to restrict their load relief to 60 per cent of the CMD throughout the month with peak load restriction from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. They have to avail power supply only for lighting purpose not exceeding 10 per cent of the CMD during peak load hours.
The life-saving drugs and seed processing industries would also have to implement the power holiday for two days in a week with peak load restrictions from 8 p.m. to 10.30p.m. throughout the month, he added.
