Social Welfare DD trapped by ACB sleuths

Deputy Director of Social Welfare D. Hanmanthu Naik was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel in the late hours of Monday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh from the correspondent of a private nursing college, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB, Raja Rao told media persons on Tuesday.

Mr. Naik was already transferred and posted at Telangana Secretariat and was waiting for his successor to get relieved. He joined the department in 2012 and was the special officer to Tenali Municipality.

Mr. Raja Rao said acting on a complaint from Emmanuel Prakash, correspondent of Emmy College of Nursing, a team of ACB sleuths led by the DSP laid a trap on Monday night and caught Naik red handed while he was accepting the bribe of Rs.1 lakh from Mr. Prakash to approve scholarship bills of students.

The arrested officer was produced before ACB court in Vijayawada.
