The city’s bus station and railway station are witnessing a round-the-clock surge of pilgrims coming for the Krishna Pushkaralu from the beginning of the river festival on August 12.

With the availability of free bus services from far off places to the ghats via bus stations, a majority of pilgrims are preferring these vehicles to private transport. As a result, the rush at the bus station increased to a level that it surpassed the crowd at the railway station. Officials say 90 per cent of the pilgrims are reaching the city through the free buses and trains.

Officials have made elaborate arrangements at the railway station and bus station, and control rooms, medical camps have been set up to help out the incoming and outgoing pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the pilgrim rush has turned an issue for people who are visiting the city on various other purposes. People of the city who are to visit other places are also facing problems.
