Senior leaders of the Congress in Krishna district on Monday urged the party high command to revoke the suspension of PCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu.
Addressing a press conference, former Government Whip Samineni Udayabhanu, former Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao and others said Mr. Rambabu was a committed and sincere party leader. The Congress was a party of the masses, and the party cadre were perplexed by his suspension.
The high command should give an opportunity to him to explain about his alleged anti-party activities.
The high command should “study the media reports”, they said.
The high command was requested to take into consideration Mr. Rambabu's contribution to taking the party to success in the last two Assembly elections, they said, adding,
“The high command should revoke the suspension considering Rambabu's commitment to the party. He walked with former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for 1,500 km during YSR's historic padayatra before the 2004 elections.”
They evaded direct replies when asked whether the party high command suspended Mr. Rambabu without studying media reports, whether Mr. Rambabu did not make any allegations against the Chief Minister or whether they support his view point.
PCC secretary Kolanukonda Shivaji, DCC president Segu Venkateswarlu and others were present.
