Police constable dies in road accident

A police constable, Venkat Rao (52), who was on Pushkaram duty, died in a road mishap at Gudavalli on the city outskirts on Friday.

Mr. Rao attached to Armed Reserve in Utukuru village, Rajampet mandal of Kadapa district, suffered critical injuries, when a four-wheeler hit him while he was crossing the road. He succumbed to injuries later. The police registered a case.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed condolences over the death of the constable. He announced Rs. 10 lakh ex-gratia and Rs. 5 lakh accident insurance to the bereaved family.
