Naidu in dilemma over location of Secretariat

July 13, 2014 12:41 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:58 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu still appears to be in dilemma on the location of Secretariat and the place for the governance even after a month in the office.

Participating in a felicitation function organised by the AP NGOs Association here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu shared his experiences as the Chief Minister of the new State and said that he never had a camp office even when he was the Chief Minister of the combined State.

“The facilities at Secretariat are not sufficient. It is difficult to function from there. The decision to function from the Lake View Guest House is also not visible as you know the condition of the guest house,” he said.

He said the Cabinet was exploring all possibilities of shifting the administration to the new State. “But to what extent is the question now. Should we shift all the Departments or a few important ones that have public interface? Is it possible to shuttle 280 km regularly? These are some of the questions that are haunting us,” he said.

“Nevertheless, I have plans to work two days in a week in the field. You all know that my success lies in field work. Be it ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ or some other yatra,” he pointed out.

The Chief Minister very often used the word “here” but was not clear whether he was indicating Vijayawada or Andhra Pradesh. And, everyone guessed that he was referring to Vijayawada city as it was being touted as capital of new State.

Mr. Naidu did not utter a word on crop loan waiver or the capital.

Though he spoke for more than an hour, he did not make any mention of his first five signatures and the progress of his promises. He even skipped interaction with the media for the reasons best known to him.
