“Tulabharam'', one of the most important offerings for Lord Krishna, was inaugurated by Mines Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy at the Bhavan Muralikrishna mandir in the town on Wednesday.

The Minister took part in special prayers at the temple and offered coins more than the weight of the idol of Lord Krishna.

In the Thulabaram ritual, a devotee sits on a pan of the weighing balance and the other pan is filled with materials greater than the weight of the devotee.

Cynosure of all eyes

A little girl, Harshita, who was weighed with coins on the other pan, was the cynosure of all eyes at the temple.

Devotees offer among other articles, sugar, butter, jaggery, coconut and banana, to the Lord in fulfilment of their prayers.

Thulabaram ritual was introduced at the temple to mark the 63rd birthday of Swami Sundara Chaitanyanandaji Maharaj, temple organising committee Chairman Harinath Rao said.
