The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday condemned the allegations of YSR Congress and the BJP that Vijayawada (Central) MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao was behind sealing of the Sitarama Kalyana Mandapam at Satyanarayanapuram in the city.

Addressing a press conference here, TDP urban convener Buddha Venkanna said the MLA and local corporator Ganduri Mahesh were unnecessarily dragged into the controversy.

Even the BJP fell into the trap of the Opposition party and was making baseless allegations, he said. The BJP leaders could approach Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao if they had any grievances or doubts regarding the Kalyana Mandapam, he added.

‘Vested interests’

He alleged that certain vested interests were misleading representatives of the Brahmin community over the issue. The TDP leader assured that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu if the representatives of the Brahmin community wanted space for their office on the Kalyana Mandapam premises.
