The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam authorities will throw open the Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam to devotees early next year. The Mahamandapam at the Kanaga Durga temple has been built on the lines of the Tirumala Vaikuntham queue complex. Priests at the temple said Uttarayana after Sankranti was the most auspicious time for the inauguration of the structure. The construction of the structure was completed at a cost of Rs. 20.5 crore.

The Devasthanam authorities cited reasons such as contractor’s delay, technical reasons and sand scarcity for the delay in completion of work, escalating the project cost to Rs. 22.5 crore.
