For Grandmaster Musunuru Lalith Babu, the long-cherished dream of bagging a job in a public sector oil company was fulfilled on Monday as he signed his appointment order for the post of Grade I officer with THE Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) here on Monday.

He will now represent the IOC in the all national events along with GMs Adhiban, Surya Sekhar Ganguly and Abhijeet Kunte.

For the 22-year-old commerce graduate, who brought laurels to Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and India getting a job had become imperative as he wanted to lessen the burden on his parents especially while meeting the expenses to play aboard,

“Now that he (Lalith) got a job he can shape his career in a proper manner,” says Padma, Lalith Babu’s mother.

Incidentally, Lalith Babu (2563) is a second grandmaster in chess after Koneru Humpy from the Krishna district and he is also a Commonwealth champion.
