Flood victims staged a dharna at Kunavaram on Monday resenting the alleged denial of compensation for the losses suffered by them in the recent flood devastation.
Later, the victims comprising several women blocked the car of Additional Joint Collector Subash Chandra Bose and other officials who arrived at Kunavaram to review disbursement of flood relief.
They entered into an argument with the officials concerned alleging that compensation was sanctioned to only a few houses of the total 465 flood-affected houses in Kunavaram. The officials cited the rules and tried to explain the norms governing sanction of the compensation in vain.
Mr Subash Chandra Bose promised to represent their grievances to the higher officials concerned.
Earlier, Mr Bose addressed the meeting of VROs, medical officers and other divisional level officials concerned in Bhadrachalam and reviewed the implementation of relief operations in the areas affected by the recent floods.
He asked the officials to take up sanitation activities on a large scale in the flood affected areas to prevent health hazards.
Bhadrachalam RDO Naganna and others were present.
