Breach plugged with ready mix

August 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:53 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The breach in the bund of the Polavaram Right Main Canal at the point the Ramileru under tunnel crosses over it near Pallerlamudi village in Krishna district was plugged with ready mix on Saturday. The canal bund breached five days ago while 4,500 cusecs of water was flowing through it. Twelve pumps of the Pattiseema LI scheme were lifting the Godavari flood water to cater to the needs of the Krishna Delta farmers when the canal bund breached, forcing the irrigation authorities to shut down the scheme. Water Resources Minister D. Umamaheswara Rao camped at the breach point for three days. The Minister also went to the breach point on Saturday to witness the plugging work.
