Contractors implementing the arterial road projects in the capital region have given an assurance to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to complete the works by the end of November.

At a review meeting on the CRDA at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the contractors presented drone footages of the progress and their time-bound plans and promised to stick to the deadlines.

“Due to our parting ways with the Centre, there is pressure on us to perform. I do not want any doubts in the minds of citizens,” said Mr. Naidu, urging the contractors to ensure a visible change in the capital city.

According to an official release, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is working on 32 km and NCC is working on 58 km of roads and bridges. Other companies include BSR Infratech India Ltd., BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd. and RBR Construction.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of roads and housing under the Land Pooling Scheme and housing for MLAs, MLCs, gazetted and non-gazetted officers.

Design options

The L&T officials presented design options for a multi-purpose convention centre with a 2,000 seating capacity proposed to be built in Amaravati.

The CM also discussed with Amaravati Development Corporation Chairperson D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy about the Sakamuru regional park. She said research and development were going on in coordination with the Agriculture Department and the best features of world-famous parks in Singapore and Europe are being drawn upon.

Capital Region Development Authority Commissioner Sreedhar Cherukuri said that 35 electrical vehicles had been approved for a trial run under an agreement between the Energy Department and Energy Efficiency Services Limited as part of the government’s electric mobility plan.

Minister P. Narayana, Special Chief Secretary Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary G. Sai Prasad and Principal Secretary Karikal Valaven were present.
