Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is gearing up to intensify its ‘go rural” campaign by improving its cricketing activity at the grassroots by forming 50 sub-centres in 13 districts – from Srikakulam to Chittoor - which comes under its jurisdiction.
The ACA’s ambitious plan of launching three regional academies - at Kadapa, Mangalagiri and Vizianagaram - is nearing completion and once the chief coaches are appointed, the activity would spread to the sub centres in three zones - South, Central and North.

“Best of talent is available in villages and we intend to take the services of the physical education teachers (PETs) in the villages to spread the game,” said ACA director (Operations) M. S. K. Prasad. He said ACA would provide infrastructure facilities to the sub-centres
The former India wicket keeper said that PETs from the respective village will visit the academies for refresher courses, seminars and workshops conducted by the chief coaches to would return back to their respective centre enriched with knowledge. “Keeping in mind that most of the PETs might not be adept with English, we have translated the National Cricket Academy manual into Telugu.

The coaches can easily go through the basics and technical aspects. We have given illustrations, pictorial descriptions and used easy language for the benefit of the coaches,” said S. Rama Krishna, BCCI panel umpire, who authored the book.
The 126-page oil paper multi-colour book – “Cricket Coaching India” - costing Rs. 400 will soon reach all the districts and later to the coaches in the sub-centres. ‘Hyderabad Cricket Association has congratulated us for our efforts and they ordered 10 books for its clubs and district associations. Both ACA and HCA will promote this book in Andhra Pradesh,” said ACA secretary Gokaraju Ganga Raju.
Mr. Ramakrishna and M.S.K. Prasad had spent more than one year to translate the book covering all aspects for both players and coaches. “Aspects like grip, guard, stance, drives (in batting), run-up, alignments, seam, delivery stride (in bowling), chasing, throwing, catching, and stopping (in fielding) are covered extensively by using Telugu,” he added.
