It is compulsory for all students who are eligible for scholarships to procure an Aadhaar Card. Scholarships would be released only to students who had Aadhaar Cards, Social Welfare Department Joint Director P.S.A.Prasad, has said.
Mr Prasad held a meeting with officials of the Social Welfare Department and college principals of Vijayawada and Nuzvid Revenue Divisions at Ambedkar Bhavan here on Wednesday.
He said maintenance and tuition fees could be transferred to all eligible students if the applications of the students were put on line. But a hardcopy of the details should be given to the district head, he said.
The applications should be put online after checking if they were submitted as per the guidelines. All students who were applying for the scholarship for the first time and even those who were applying for renewal should submit their application by January 31, Mr Prasad said.
He said there were 1,31,426 students who were getting scholarships in Krishna district, but only 32,333 of them have enrolled themselves for Aadhaar cards. Out of the students who have applied for Aadhaar cards 3,186 have procured enrolment ID numbers and 29,147 students have procured Unique ID numbers, he said.
