After performing rituals, they were seen off at Ammamandapam Road

Elephants from three temples in Tiruchi were taken by trucks to the rejuvenation camp at Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam on Wednesday.

Andal from Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam, Akila from Sri Akilandeswari – Jambukeswarar temple in Tiruvanaikovil, and Lakshmy from Rocfort Sri Thayumanaswamy temple were taken by trucks.

Before leaving for Mettupalayam, the elephants were taken up to the office of the Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board, Tiruchi, on Ammamandapam Road, where a few religious rituals were performed.

A. Jaya, Mayor, and Pugazhendran, and S. Kalyani, both Joint Commissioners, flagged off the trucks. Mullai and Rathinavel Pandian, both Assistant Commissioners, were present.

Meanwhile, three temple elephants from Thanjavur district were taken to the rejuvenation camp.

The elephants - Dharmambal from Panchanatheeswaraswamy temple at Thiruvaiyaru, Sengamalam from Sri Rajagopalaswamy Temple at Mannargudi and Sooliyambal from Agniswaraswamy temple at Thirupugalur were brought in lorries.
