Cultural programmes were performed by more than 75 differently-abled students from special schools and voluntary organisations at the International Day for the differently-abled held at St.John Vestry Anglo Indian Matriculation Higher Secondary School here on Wednesday.

Jayashree Muralidharan, District Collector, was at hand to celebrate the day by cutting cake along with differently-abled students.

The day was organised to bring out the talents of differently-abled persons and to encourage them.

“Their skill cannot be under estimated. If they are deficient in one sense, they are strong in other senses. They should live with confidence without inferiority complex,” the Collector said.

Prizes were distributed to the differently-abled who emerged victorious in State-level sports events. S.Usha, district social welfare officer, R.Komagan, project officer, Mahalir Thittam, and N.Saminathan, district welfare officer for differently-abled persons, took part.
