A special meeting

to redress grievances relating to LPG distribution in Srirangam taluk would be

held on Saturday. Collector K.S.Palanisamy, in a press release, said the meeting would be held at the

Srirangam Taluk office at 11 a.m. Complaints with

respect to delay in supply

of LPG refills to consumers

and other related issues

can be raised at the meeting. Representatives of LPG distributors and oil companies would attend the meeting,

he said.

Yoga training programme

A free yoga training programme for Corporation school teachers got underway in the city on Thursday. Mayor A.Jaya, who inaugurated the programme in the presence of Corporation Commissioner N.S.Prema, urged the teachers to utilise the opportunity and also impart the training to students in turn. She also released a compact disc on yoga on the occasion. The training was being provided by Isha Yoga Foundation, a Corporation press release said.

Surprise check by TANGEDCO

Engineers and field staff of

the Tangedco conducted surprise checks on 2709

power connections in

different parts of Rockfort section on Thursday.

A Tangedco press release issued here said that over 58 engineers and field staff team led by Rajendra Vijay, Executive Engineer (operations and maintenance), Tiruchi Metro Circle, split into different groups, carried out the surprise checks. Problems such as faulty meters were identified and steps taken to rectify them. The Tangedco would continue to conduct such surprise checks, a press release said.

Global expo

A team of 20 progressive farmers would attend the International Agriculture and Horticulture Expo to be held in New Delhi from July 22 to 24. The farmers trip has been sponsored by the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA). The team was seen off by R.Chandrasekaran, Joint Director of Agriculture and Project Director, ATMA on Thursday. Already four teams of farmers have been sent on exposure visits to various states to study different aspects of latest agriculture technology and crop management, he said.
