Southern Railway announces special trains

The Southern Railway will operate the following special trains to clear the extra rush of traffic in view of Christmas, New Year, Irumudi, Thaipoosam, and Pongal festivals:

The Tirunelveli – Chengalpattu weekly special train (06134) will leave Tirunelveli at 3.15 p.m. on December 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 and reach Chengalpattu at 3 a.m. the next day. The Chengalpattu – Tirunelveli weekly special train (06135) will leave Chengalpattu at 2 p.m. on December 4, 11, 18, 25 and January 1 and reach Tirunelveli at 2.15 a.m. the next day.

The trains will stop at Vanchi Maniyachchi, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Tirumangalam, Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, Manapparai, Tiruchi, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram and Melmaruvathur.

The Nagercoil – Chengalpattu weekly special train (via main line) (06136) will leave Nagercoil at 5 p.m. on December 6 and 13 and reach Chengalpattu at 6.15 a.m. the next day. The Chengalpattu – Nagercoil weekly special train (06137) will leave Chengalpattu at 12.45 p.m. on December 7 and 14 and reach Nagercoil at 4.15 a.m. the next day.

The trains will stop at Valliyur, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchir, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Chidambaram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Villupuram and Melmaruvathur.

The Coimbatore – Chengalpattu tri-weekly special train (06144) will leave Coimbatore at 10.50 p.m. on December 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15,17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29 and 31 and January 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 and 21 and reach Chengalpattu at 8 a.m. the next day.

The Chengalpattu – Coimbatore tri-weeky special train (06145) will leave Chengalpattu at 5 p.m. on December 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28 and 30 and January 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20 and 22 and reach Coimbatore at 2.30 a.m the next day.

The trains will stop at Somanur, Tirupur, Erode, Karur, Tiruchi, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram and Melmaruvathur.

Advance reservation for the trains have commenced, a Southern Railway press release said.
