Rally to spread mental-health awareness held in Trichy

Athma Institute of Mental Health and Social Science observed the World Mental Health Day in the city on Thursday by organising an awareness rally.

Around 750 participants from nursing colleges, patients, family members, caregivers and mental health professionals participated in the rally, which was flagged off by A.Amalraj, DIG of Police, from the institute’s campus in Thillai Nagar.

Participants of the rally raised slogans about mental health and distributed pamphlets and posters to the public, according to Dr.K.Janaki Raman of Athma.

V.P. Dhandapani, Commissioner, Tiruchirapalli City Corporation, was the guest at the valedictiory function organised by the institute.

K. Ramakrishnan, Director, Athma Institute, was present.

Athma Institute has been instrumental in conducting a series of mental health awareness programmes in various parts of the district since September 3.
