Ahead of the proposed indefinite strike called by Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU) from July 11, its general secretary N. Kanniah addressed railway men here on Monday.

Mr. Kanniah spoke at the Diesel Loco Shed, Golden Rock Railway Workshop, and at the Office of the Divisional Railway Manager driving home the reasons for the indefinite strike.

A large number of employees serving at the Golden Rock Railway Workshop and at the office of the Divisional Railway Manager attended.

The union has called for the indefinite strike in support of their charter of demands, including scrapping of new pension scheme and withdrawal of the decision allowing foreign direct investment in the railway sector.
