A special portal to improve efficiency of school administration has been introduced in Pudukottai district.

A wide range of data, including attendance details of students, academic performance, scholarships, interest in sports and extracurricular activities, location of the school, number of classes, and other details can be accessed from the portal.

The portal, presently covering government and aided schools in the district, is the first of its kind to be introduced in the State and will be of much use for accessing various information, including attendance details of teachers, said N. Subramanian, Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare.

Speaking after honouring heads of 41 schools for recording 100 per cent pass in SSLC and Plus Two public examinations this year at a function held here on Sunday, Mr.Subramanian said the portal would help improve efficiency of school administration.

He appealed to the heads of government schools to work hard to make sure that students register higher pass percentage.

In this context, he referred to the special schemes being implemented by the State government. The Minister gave away certificates and shield to 41 headmasters and district toppers. Collector C.Manoharan spoke on the responsibility of teachers in taking the district forward in various fronts through education.

N.Arul Murugan, Chief Educational Officer, later told media persons that the portal, accessible by education department officials and headmasters of schools concerned, would act as a primary source for culling out data. “The need for convening periodical meetings with school heads to collect data could be avoided or minimised,” he said.
