Traffic head constable Rajagopal attached to Ariyamangalam police station was honoured on Friday by the Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav for thwarting a chain-snatching attempt and nabbing the culprits on Thursday night.

Mr. Rajagopal was on duty at Old Palpannai junction when he heard the screams of Kavitha (25) who was waiting for her husband in the vicinity. Springing into action, Mr. Rajagopal pinned down Sowkat Ali (34) and Mohamed Nazar (20) who were riding a two-wheeler, retrieved the gold chain, and handed the criminals over to the Gandhi Market police.

Appreciating Mr. Rajagopal’s timely and courageous act, the Commissioner honoured him with a cash award.
