Over 12,000 men and women candidates in Tiruchi Range appeared for the written examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board on Sunday for recruitment to the posts of Grade II Constables, Jail Warders and Firemen.
The examination were conducted in Tiruchi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur and Pudukottai districts with Police authorities making detailed arrangements for the test.
For the Tiruchi candidates, the examination was conducted at the Jamal Mohamed College, Shrimathi Indira Gandhi College for Women and Bishop Heber College in the city. The number of absentees was 650 in Tiruchi Range, which comprises the aforementioned five districts.
Police sources said the total number of candidates who appeared in Tiruchi exceeded 5,000 followed by Pudukottai where more than 2,800 applicants took the written test. The number of candidates in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts was 527 and 1,953 respectively. Over 1,800 candidates appeared in Karur district.
