About 100 staff members of the National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) celebrated Sewa Diwas, as part of implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission, by cleaning up their residential campus at Karumandapam in the city on Sunday.

Led by NRCB Director S. Uma, the staff members, including contractual workers, undertook the cleaning work of the Children's Park, playground, water tank, and roads.

The activities were carried out for two hours soon after the Swachhta pledge was administered by D. Ramajayam,Senior Scientist and Convenor, Swatch Bharat Committee.

Dr Ramajayam explained the significance of Swachhta Hi Sewa.

The Sewa Diwas celebration was a success, D. Padmanaban, Principal Scientist and Chairman, Swachh Bharat Committee, said.
