New IG assumes charge

N.K. Senthamarai Kannan assumed charge as the Inspector-General of Police, Central Zone, here on Monday. He succeeds K.N. Sathiyamoorthy who was transferred and posted as Inspector-General, Intelligence.

A 1989-batch Tamil Nadu Police Service officer, Mr. Senthamarai Kannan joined the service as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Subsequently, he was promoted and served as Superintendent of Police in the Special Task Force constituted to nab brigand Veerappan, besides in Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, and Tiruvallur districts.

He had earlier served as Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tiruchi Range, before being promoted as IG Operations in Chennai.
