A mobile campaign on railway safety has been launched in Tiruchi Railway Division to create awareness among public and students on the aspects connected with it. The campaign would be carried through a propaganda vehicle deployed by the Safety Organisation of Tiruchi Division for this purpose.

The propaganda vehicle was flagged off at Tiruchi Junction by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager H. M. Sharma on Monday and it would move to different stations in the division. The exercise has been launched in connection with the observance of Railway Annual Safety Week from March 4 to 10.

The vehicle would move in a programmed manner to Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Karaikal, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur stations till March 9.

Awareness would be created among the public and students on safe travel in trains, dangers of carrying fire crackers and inflammables in trains, dangers of using mobile phones and head phones while crossing railway tracks, using subways and foot over bridges to cross railway tracks and the precautionary steps to be taken while passing through level crossing gates – manned and unmanned – to avoid accidents, a Southern Railway press release here said.
