Headmaster, cooks suspended

The Minister ordered the suspension after detecting discrepancies in the attendance register and also based on complaints from local residents

The headmaster and two cooks of Government Adi Dravida Welfare Residential School at Top Sengattupatti near Thuraiyur were ordered to be placed under suspension by Adi Dravida Welfare Minister N.Subramanian during a surprise inspection on Friday.

The Minister ordered the suspension of Rajasekaran, the headmaster, Durairaj and Shanmugam, the cooks, after detecting discrepancies in the attendance register and also based on complaints from local residents.

Mr.Subramanian inspected the government Adi Dravida welfare residential schools at Periya Chittur, Thanneerpallam, Ramanathapuram, Thonur, Manalodai, and Sembulichanpatti and the Adi Dravida students hostel at Thuraiyur.

He enquired with the students about the food, amenities, teaching and learning facilities. He distributed revolving fund of Rs.50, 000 each, given under the Tamil Nadu Afforestation Programme, to two women’s self help groups and individual revolving funds to seven SHG members.

Earlier, he inspected the progress of construction of a new Adi Dravida students’ hostel being constructed at a cost of Rs.50 lakhs with THADCO assistance at Manachanallur. T.P.Poonatchi and T.Indira Gandhi, MLAs, and K.V.Giridhar, Director of Tribal Welfare, were present.
