15 admitted to engg. colleges under supernumerary provision

Fifteen students from the North-Eastern States, Jammu and Kashmir and the Andaman and Nicobar islands have been offered admission to engineering programmes at the SASTRA University here under a special supernumerary provision in the counselling that began on Monday.

Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering continued their academic popularity and emerged the most popular branches sought after by the students at the counselling.

At the end of the first day of counselling, all the seats in the All India Category in CSE, ECE and IT were filled with two more days of counselling still left for the 70% of seats to which students will be admitted based on +2 and JEE-Main scores. Krishna Teja, P. Bhanumahesh and C. Vaishnavi, the top three rankers with All India Rank of 39, 42 and 43 respectively, picked Computer Science and Engineering.

Regional Managers of the City Union Bank, the Punjab National Bank and the Indian Overseas Bank handed over the admission letters to the three students and also launched the educational loan scheme with special interest rates for the SASTRA University students.

Welcoming the students, Dean S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, highlighted the high accessibility, affordability, quality and opportunity quotient at the university.
