Competitions to be held in January

The Department of Public Libraries would conduct oratorical, essay writing and book review contests for school and college students in January 2011 and students who wish to participate in the contests were required to enrol themselves as members of public libraries now, Collector T. Soundiah has said. In a press release, Mr.Soundiah said the contests for school students would be held in two categories - one for students of standards IX and X and other for students of Plus-One and Plus-Two.

College students, in the age group of 18 to 25, would form the third category.First prize winners of the contests would win a free trip to Europe and second prize students a trip to Singapore. Third prize winners would win an all India trip.

Those who wish to participate have to enrol as members of public libraries and should have used the libraries at least four times in a month.

The attendance cards would be issued at the libraries.
