Engineering major BHEL, engaged in manufacture of power plant equipments, will commisssion plants to generate about 1,500 MW of power before the commonwealth games (CWG) start.
Out of the 2750 MW power plants to be commissioned before the commencement of CWG, already 1500 MW generation is synchronised and work on plants to produce the remaining quantity of power would be able to be completed before the end of September, BHEL Executive Director A V Krishnan said here.
He said 2x500MW coal based power plant by NTPC at Dadri, near New Delhi had already been synchronised and the work on the Mejia (West Bengal) plants with capacity of 2x500MW by DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation) would be completed soon.
The project at Jajjhar with 500MW capacity, a JV of NTPC and Haryana State Power Corporation, would be commissioned by September, he said.
The 250 MW Bawana project is ready for usage, he said.
The BHEL is committed to start a total capacity of 15000 MW power addition across the country before end of this fiscal.
He said the third phase of capacity augmentation of boiler plant here was being taken up to raise the manufacturing capacity to 20,000 MW.
