The Railways has announced that the Tiruchi-Tirunelveli Intercity Express train would halt at Manapparai with effect from March 25.

The announcement comes close on the heels of DMK MP Tiruchi N. Siva making a request with the Railway Minister for providing a halt for the train at Manapparai during the Railway function held in the city earlier in the day.

A Southern Railway press release said that the Railway Board has approved the stoppage of the Train Nos.22627/22628 Tiruchi-Tirunelveli Intercity Express at Manapparai for a period of six months from March 25 on an experimental basis.

The train will be extended up to Thiruvanathapuram with effect from July 15, the release said.
