Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India is conducting their 37th annual conference, ASICON 2013, under the auspices of Tiruchi branch from August 1 to 4 at Hotel Sangam in the city.
Third time
ASICON is being organised for the third time in the city.
A unique aspect of this year’s event is a live surgery on Intra Operative Radio Therapy (IORT) and Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM).
The four-day event features a live workshop from Dr. G.Viswanathan Speciality Hospitals, during which 12 surgeries will be performed on August 1, a CME (Continuing Medical Education) programme on August 2, and a two-day conference on August 3 and 4.
The event will be organised from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The conference on August 3 will be inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Chandra Hari, national president, ASI, and the guests of honour will be Dr. Radhakrishnan, secretary to government, health and family welfare department, and Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector.
Over 600 participants, including 200 postgraduates and participants from 40 medical colleges in the State, have registered for the event, according to Dr. K. Govindaraj, organising secretary.
