Konni sub-district with 301 points tops higher secondary section

SVGV Higher Secondary School, Kidangannur, lifted the overall championship in the higher secondary, high school, and upper primary sections at the district school art festival that came to a close late Saturday night.

The Konni educational sub-district with a total of 301 points stood first in the higher secondary section. The Aranmula educational sub-district (258 points) and Thiruvalla (249 points) stood second and third, respectively.,

In the high school section, the Thiruvalla educational sub-district with 261 points was adjudged the top-scorer, while Konni with 226 points and Ranni with 219 points came second and third, respectively.

The Adoor sub-division with a total of 118 points topped the upper primary (UP) section, with Konni (109 points) and Pathanamthitta (100 points) in the second and third positions, respectively.

Among the schools, Government Higher Secondary School (HSS), Konni, with 121 points, and SC HSS, Ranni, with 120 points were second and third in the points tally in the higher secondary section.

St Behenan’s HSS, Vennikkulam, (91 points) and SC HSS, Ranni (88 points) came second and third in the high school section, and NSS English Medium Upper Primary School, Pandalam (41 points), and Holy Angel’s EM HSS, Adoor (40 points), stood second and third in the UP section.

In the Sanskrit festival, the Ranni sub-district with 87 points stood first, and Pullad (78) and Konni (75) followed in the second and third positions, respectively.

The Konni sub-district with 85 points came first in the Arabic festival for the high school section, and Pandalam with 58 points became the top-scorer in the upper primary section.

The cultural competitions came to a close by 11.45 p.m. on Saturday, forcing the organisers to postpone the valedictory function to Monday.

Valedictory function

The valedictory function will begin at the St. Thomas Higher Secondary School grounds at Kozhencherry at 11 a.m. on Monday, Pazhakulam Madhu, education standing committee chairman of the district panchayat, said.

K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, would inaugurate the function. Philipose Mar Chrysostum, Senior Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church, would deliver the benedictory speech.

Babu George, district panchayat president, would present trophies to the overall champions and winners of various competitions. District Collector V.N .Jithendran would be the guest of honour at the function, to be presided over by Mr. Madhu.

Star of the event

S. Ananthu of Gurukulam HSS at Edakkulam, near Ranni, became the star of the event by bagging the first prize with ‘A’ grade in all the competitions he took part in the high school section.

Ananthu stood first in the Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattom contests held for boys in the section.
