The Lay Trustee and Treasurer of Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, Varghese Mammen, has presented the annual budget of the Church for 2012-’13 with a total income worth Rs 78,67,81,935.21 and expenditure worth Rs 46,10,36,935.21 on the second day of the three-day meet of the Mar Thoma Prathinidhi Mandalam, parliament of the Church, held at Dr Alexander Mar Thoma Hall in Thiruvalla on Friday.
Dr Joseph Mar Thoma, Metropolitan of the Church, presided the meet.
Mr Mammen said Rs 75 lakhs has been set apart for constructing a new Pulatheen complex at the S.C. Seminary compound itself.
He said a budget allocation worth Rs 1 crore has been made for renovation of Dr Alexander Mar Thoma auditorium in Thiruvalla and Rs 10 lakhs for starting a professional college.
Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, was the chief celebrant of the holy eucharist held at the St Thomas Mar Thoma Church at the SC Seminary premises, earlier, in the morning.
Manava Seva Award
The Metropolitan has presented this year’s Manava Seva Award of the Church to Dr O.U. George, social worker, and the Karshaka Award instituted by the Church to C.P. Thapikutty on Friday.
The three-day meet will come to close on Saturday.
