Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal has ordered a probe into the lapses in providing protocol facilities to Governor Nikhil Kumar while arriving at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on an Air India flight from New Delhi on May 16. Air India chairman Rohit Nandan has been asked to probe into the incident and submit report at the earliest, according to a communication from the Union Minister’s office.

The director of Thiruvananthapuram airport had carried out an inquiry into the lapses after it was known that the Governor had to move through the aerobridge along with other passengers as the door of the aircraft was not opened despite the request from the ground staff.
